Crafted with a 52.5 mm resin case and mineral dial window, this timepiece is powered by a Japanese quartz movement with digital display. Additional functions include flash alert, world time (48 cities and UTC), multi-home time, and 12/24 hour formats. Fitted with a ribbed resin band and buckle closure, the G8900 is water resistant up to 200 m (660 ft), making it suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, though not for scuba diving.
Casio entered the wristwatch market in November 1974, a time when the industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio was confident it could develop timepieces to lead the market. Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches, where the built-in solar battery eliminates the need for battery replacement, and atomic timekeeping ensures users never have to reset the time. Casio has also recently launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the user's cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.
The G8900 is a gloss black resin band digital watch with a blue face. The large case digital is highlighted by a high-intensity LED backlight, which can be activated by the flick of the wrist or easy-press front button. An aluminum bezel provides a first line of defense to the watch's omni-directional shock-resistant structure, and the semi-round case bridges the gap between the legendary 5600 and 6900 case styles. This tough and capable timepiece is made in China and is crafted from resin material.
